The Story Behind #GoDoSomething

The Story Behind #GoDoSomething

#GoDoSomething wasn’t born from success. It was born from a season of my life when I was stuck. For years, I was living on autopilot. I made excuses, blamed circumstances, waited for motivation, and was always "waiting for the right time.” I waited for things to change, but nothing changes when you do nothing.

As a nightclub DJ, I spent years surrounded by environments that fed unhealthy habits. Alcohol became a major part of my life, and eventually those choices led me down a road of pain, bad decisions, legal trouble, and almost losing everything that mattered most to me... my wife, my children, my peace of mind, and my relationship with God.

Then one day I realized something. Nobody was coming to save me. If I wanted a different life, I had to do something. Not something huge, or something perfect. Just something.

A walk. A workout. A prayer. A meeting. A better meal. A phone call. A positive decision.

Just one action. That one action became another action. Then another. Day after day, those small choices started creating big changes. I got sober, healthier, strengthened my relationship with God, and I became a better husband, a better father, and a better man.

That’s when #GoDoSomething was born. It became more than a hashtag. It became a mindset. It became a reminder that no matter how stuck, broken, lost, discouraged, overwhelmed, or unmotivated you feel, your life can start changing the moment you decide to take action.

#GoDoSomething isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making a daily deposit into your future. Mentally, physically, and spiritually. It’s about choosing progress over excuses, faith over fear, and action over procrastination. Every day that you wake up, you have a choice: Stay where you are, or go do something. The life that you want is on the other side of the actions you’re avoiding, and if my life can change from alcohol abuse, DUIs, and nearly losing everything, to sobriety, fitness, faith, purpose, and peace, then anybody can change.

That’s why I started #GoDoSomething. Not because I had all the answers, but because I finally learned that action changes everything.

#GoDoSomething

One decision. One action. One day at a time.
